StepUp Greensboro empowers disadvantaged adults living in Guilford County, North Carolina with training, active mentoring and support services that help them find and keep jobs, and build stable lives. Job Readiness training is the starting point for unemployed or under-employed men and women. Life Skills is the second step for Job Readiness graduates who have found a job and are ready to learn skills and techniques that create stable lives.
Partners from many faith communities, community organizations, non-profit groups and individuals support StepUp as volunteers and donors. Guilford County employers partner with StepUp to find motivated employees who are ready and willing, and prescreened to work. Other non-profit organizations collaborate with StepUp Greensboro with Bridge programs, education, training, transportation, housing, furnishings and clothing services through our Encore! Boutique thrift store. StepUp Greensboro is the first replication of the comprehensive, best-practice model, StepUp Ministry Raleigh. Since 1998, StepUp Ministry Raleigh has transformed thousands of lives with Job Readiness training and teaching comprehensive life skills. Through its effective programs, graduates have moved from lives lived in poverty to tax-paying employees who can support their families.
